We will be glad to assist you further. Hi Sangeeta, I received the following reply from the manufacturer: “Hello, Thank you for your email.
Which motherboard are you currently using? We strongly recommend you to contact your hardware manufacturer for support. Please read the information below and our FAQ Please note that the drivers provided on the VIA website are general effects drivers with common functions.
System manufacturers and motherboard vendors customize hardware and software, so to ensure optimal quality and compatibility, we strongly recommend you obtain the system-validated and certified drivers directly from your system manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer, not from VIA. In case you still wish to download the drivers from VIA, please visit our VIA driver portal at:. Select your operating system first, followed by the type of driver you need. Best regards, VIA Technologies, Inc. Taiwan ” Please advise. Thanks and regards. Based on identification found at this site -the last drivers VIA made for this graphics chipset (at the VIA driver download link) were for use in Windows Vista.
The only other places to possibly get updated drivers for it would be either the graphics card maker (computer maker for embedded graphics) or legacy driver support from MS update. This next support page at VIA says the following: ' Note: Older VIA chipsets (than the VIA VX900 and VX11 Media System Processors) can run Windows 10 using the default drivers built into Windows 10, but some graphical features may not be supported and it is not recommended.' From communications with the graphic cards maker and the chip set manufacturer, it appears that I will not be able to get a driver for this card (post Vista) and there is no satisfactory solution. Not to discourage you from your choice, but that is not quite correct.
Apple OS only supports Apple brand computers whereas MS OS supports almost every other PC brand under the sun. With either one you can find yourself owning a computer that cannot be upgraded to the latest-greatest version of the operating system. 'I am seriously considering joining several of my relatives, friends and colleagues who have switched to Apple and getting one myself, as Apple don't keep changing things every few years and causing such upheaval!' I know this is an old thread, but I came across this and when I read comments like this, it makes my blood boil. Part of me wants to say, go right ahead and hand over 2-3 times the £ to Apple for essentially the same (or inferior) spec (CPU, RAM, gfx etc). Here you are expecting to run the latest Windows OS on hardware that is at best 10 years old and then complaining it doesn't work??? And you really think the latest MacOS will run on Apple's own hardware that is 10 years old.
Good luck with that. I know someone who had a 3 year old iMac they paid £1200 for a few years back and their shiny new iPod wouldn't sync with it because Apple had deemed the iMac to be obsolete so no more MacOS updates for it. No more MacOS updates means no more iTunes updates. No more updates means your £1200 machine is now useless for the things you bought it for. What was that you said about Apple not changing things every few years? Try getting some real facts into your head before subjecting innocent bystanders to your immature tantrums.
Or better still, put your money where your mouth is and go hand over your hard earnt cash (or do you just sponge off your parents?) to Apple and come back here and post how it went for you 10 years later. And just to demonstrate how wrong your statement about Apple not changing things every few years is, consider this: Most Windows machines have used SATA Hard Drive / SSD connectors for a good 14 years now. Whilst we slowly transition to M.2 connectors for SSD's going forward, most machines still comes with one or more SATA connectors. Apple on the other hand use a propietary SSD connector in their MacBooks.
And they've been changing the flipping connector every flipping year!!! E.g.: Why does that matter you might say? Well consider you can buy a 1TB SATA SSD for your PC/Windows laptop for £250. You can even buy a 2TB SSD if you want to. A 1TB SSD for your beloved Apple MacBook will set you back a cool £650.
And you can't even buy a 2TB version for love nor money. So much for 'advanced' tech from Apple that doesn't change every few years! And good luck if your Apple MacBook dies and you need to recover your data off it before trying to get Apple or their resellers to honour what they call the 'warranty'. The truth is, techonology is forever marching forward (sometimes backwards!). Innovation and improvement necessitates change. The longevity of any tech is improved when it's flexible and well thought out enough to be able to adapt to newer, faster, improved versions for longer. However, most inorganic things hit one limit or another sooner or later.

You self righteous git, I've had nothing but trouble with Windows ever since Windows '98 (Vista, Windows 8 and 8.1 were total duds) - What time span was that you prat? Nobody I know who uses Apple equipment, has complained about them. A businessman friend of mine ditched Windows a couple of years ago and swears by Apple. I quote 'Try getting some real facts into your head before subjecting innocent bystanders to your immature tantrums. I am 70 years old (so 'sponging' off my parents is not an option!) and have been through several Windows versions ('94, XP, Vista et al until the advent of Windows 7 which was brilliant). I resisted Windows 8 and 8.1 thankfully which were a nightmare by all accounts. My options come down to buying a new computer and going with Windows 10 or going with Apple and losing all the files I've built up over the years.
I am not looking for any advice from you so there's no need for you to offer any.and by the way, earned is spelt 'earned' not 'earnt' - you need to brush up on your language skills. I also own a notebook with this chipset and also received the same response when contacting the manufacturer. There is only decent drive for Vista, and it is the only usable for the W7.
There is a drive for the W7 but, it is very bad and the same drivers do not work from the W8 even in compatibility mode. Microsoft could release generic drivers highly capable of working with chipsets like this. It is not asking too much, since Microsoft wants users using the W10 because without the drivers the videos are bad to be seen. Here's my tip. Note: If there is a problem with words, it is because I used the online translator.
